Beat the Heat – Fire Up the Grill!
Quick Tip Tuesday: Keep the Heat Outside
We're in the thick of what feels like a brutal heatwave (fingers crossed it's our last one for the summer!). As those temperatures soar, the last thing anyone wants is to crank up the oven or stove and turn their house into an even hotter sauna.
So, here's your Quick Tip Tuesday reminder, and it's a simple one: If you're cooking dinner tonight, why not try doing it on the grill?!
It might seem obvious, but it's an incredibly effective way to reduce heat generation inside your house, giving your air conditioning unit a much-needed break. Every time you turn on your oven or a burner, you're pumping extra heat into your home, making your AC work overtime to compensate. Grilling, on the other hand, keeps all that heat (and delicious cooking smells!) safely outdoors.
Whether you're planning a full-blown barbecue or just want some perfectly roasted veggies, the grill is your best friend during these sweltering days. Think juicy grilled chicken, smoky corn on the cob, charred peppers, or even a grilled pizza! Which is one of my favorites and works really well in a cast iron pan or griddle.
Give your stove, oven, and most importantly, your AC unit a break. Head outside, enjoy the fresh air (even if it's hot!), and whip up a fantastic meal without heating up your kitchen. It’s a classic case of working smarter, not harder, to stay cool and comfortable this summer.
